How Did I Goat Here?
Paintings by Cynthia Heise
June 2-24, 2017
First Friday Opening Reception: June 2, 5-9pm
Minnesota-born artist Cynthia Heise came to Washington by way of Iowa, Illinois, North Carolina, Tennessee, Oklahoma and Missouri. In this exhibition she dives into the shallow end of her gene pool with family portraits and speculations on how she arrived at this point in reality. Her art is polychromatic, erratic and not to be taken at face value. She welcomes you to adopt her ancestors and make them your own. When asked why her great-grandfather was painted with a goat’s head, she replied, “Just kidding.”
