A World Without Borders presents the perspective of an eclectic artist who has traveled widely and lived in various countries without the psychological constraint of borders.
Alvaro Tarragó is a self-taught painter whose inspiration emanates from the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest and his experiences in various countries around the world. Tarragó’s work looks at the world from a critical perspective that rejects the preconceived notions of socio-political reality and the spontaneous and naturalistic rendering of light and color. He combines the visual and the literary arts to achieve a view beyond the margins. The force, colors, and balance of his work echoes both Post-Impressionist and Expressionist painting.
In the last few years Tarragó has exhibited at the Oregon Society of Artists (Portland), Angst Gallery (Vancouver), Maude Kerns Arts Center (Eugene), the Broadway Commerce Center (Eugene), and East Creative Collection (Portland). His paintings are included in private collections in the United States, France, Germany, Spain, Guatemala and Mexico. Tarragó is also a member of the Oregon Society of Artists, IdealPDX and the Asian Art Council of the Portland Art Museum.
